if you’ve never played badminton outside of phys-ed class you won’t understand how difficult this sport is
It’s been 4 years and I can still feel the tension in the air.
Their sportsmanship actually brought a tear to my eye
They hugged it out and exchanged shirts
and Lin Dan encouraged people to applaud
That was beautiful
I remember watching it live. I watched the third set and I was so stressed. The ending almost killed me. I was scared of Lin Dan coming back to win the match. When Lee Chong Wei scored this last point, it was such a relief. It felt like it was a dream. I could not believe it. One of the best day of 2016 for me. I was so proud of Lee Chong Wei. 🙂
Lin Dan retired today. Two legends forever. The best time in badminton has gone. Thanks to LD and LCW
i have to say my whole family cheered up for Lee Chong Wei in this match. lee showed unyielding spirits and more power. what a pity he didn’t get the gold medal.
I saw that film named “the winner who lost game”.
I think this match is more important for LCW than the gold medal match. He just simply wanted to beat Lin Dan.
28:00 that drop shot was brilliant 🔥🔥
Just loved their sportsmanship after the match, hugging so tightly and exchanging their jersey’s. Simply unbelievable….they are the GOATS💯🔥👌👍
….the thrills !!!
@dinn9012 i felt
that too!
the legendary rivalry
the struggles, the rivalry, the will to win, the passion for the game, the mutual respect, this is what sports is all about
Super Dan, and LCW, will forever be remembered as the giants in badminton
This is definitely one of the greatest badminton matches of all time! I have great respect to these two amazing players! 💯
This match is like watching the two greatest gladiators of human history coming against one another and giving their best and accepting the results as it is. A very rare occurrence . Respect 👍👍
J F yeah it’s kinda gross
Do you think LD gave it to him? There didn’t seem to be that same zest and determination like 2012 and 2008 from LD. What do you think? You almost feel that LD can win at will, he’s that good! I had similar views to his bronze medal match vs Victor, for someone whose won two golds, perhaps in his mind it spoils the cabinet and the joy of his two golds. I don’t know, i just get that feeling. Its crazy how only a few points separate the outcome of the winner between these two, apart from 2008 where LD destroyed LCW. Peace and love to both though for two decades of the best badminton we are probably likely to have witnessed in our lifetimes.
@pcleong123 yeahh I also feel sad for LCW for waiting 8 years ,he just need gold medal. 😢
@Vincent Poluan imagine having lost to LD for two straight olympics. 8 years and he still didnt get the gold. you can’t blame him now can you
I literally thought of this just as I read your comment
no, he wanted to get the gold medal? who doesnot want?
do u think Leechong wei is more amazing then Lin dan ?
i think he is he is the best badminton player i have ever seen
💯 💯 true
@Martin Susanto, MD gmn kabarmu hari ini saat lockdown darurat bro?
classy
Lee Chong Wei, Lin Dan, Taufik Hidayat, Peter Gade. End of an era of monstrous smashers. Hopefully the successors can held up to their standard or even better than them.
Many people may win gold medals in the Olympic Games, but they are rarely remembered. they are different, they are already legends. When you mention LCW, you will definitely think of LD。they have brought us too many wonderful games, and i am also a badminton enthusiast. i like these two athletes very much.
Is it just me or does anyone else come back here to rewatch 2 of these Badminton legends when Olympic 2021 is still going on? Olympic is not the same anymore without them :’(
I will still cry every time watching this replay …
2 legendary players in badminton .. but i think LCW is more than that .. defensive skill , fast game play , trick shots , always being positive and hard working ..
Im sure im not only the one who is watching this even the tokyo olympics is going on… missing those legends very badly this time😥😢
पल
We have found one guy carrying the legacy of Peter Gade that is Viktor Axelsen, many more to come.
Lin Dan is the GOAT of badminton and it’s not even close. He’s the only player in the history of badminton to win the “super grand slam”:
Olympics (2x)
World Championship (5x)
Thomas Cup (6x)
Sudirman Cup (5x)
Asian Games (2x)
Asian Championships (4x)
All-England (6x)
World Cup (2x)
Super Series Finals (1x)
Yeah, LCw is the best
@Imran Khan exactly… that’s what I’m thinking too…
@CHINMAYA NAIK I’m looking forward to see u in Olympic , go for it!!
@Shila Singh clown
They are legends.
@Shila Singh india
Even though Lee Chong Wei is a Malaysian Badminton player, he made the country proud.

@Nik Nor Faizah hahaha ayat deep though same goes to me
The most intense 1 hour in my life. I still remember how my family and I screamed & shouting during the games 4 years ago. The best badminton game I’ve ever watched. & their sportsmanship is just superb despite Lin Dan was LCW greatest rival for at least 20 years in his career.
@Nishchay Jaiswal congrats for viktor for winning the gold medal in the olympics !

Hi
dude did you forget PG vs LD
☺️💙😀💟😊💗🥰✌️😃🙋🖤🏸🇮🇩🥳💚😎💛😴.
@CHINMAYA NAIK which nation?
@Emyu naitied India
💯💯
Lindan is so much better than lcw, I don’t understand why it is even debatable. And I am a malaysian
The torch has been handed over. Their time has ended. The new shuttlers who carry their country will be even better for the sport. It’s no longer a 2 or 3 top seed that are favourites.
There’s more glory for new gen player thanks to their predecessors.
I don’t think there ll be someone like them for a long time
Compared to tennis, badminton required high body reaction.. Not to say that tennis doesn’t require high reaction but badminton court is smaller than tennis so the time taken for the shuttle to be in the opponent’s side is faster..Tennis requires more strength and endurance compared to badminton(I’m not saying badminton doesn’t require strength but if I compared to tennis) as the court is larger than badminton..In terms of skills badminton have many tricks and deception compared to tennis while tennis requires skills to use the larger courts to tire your opponents but not too much of deceptions..
@Abhishek Kumar Nadal is better than Federer and Djokovic is better than Nadal
They are legends forever 💜
@QWERTY what did he say?
Ikr. People think it’s easy
