update to the usa badminton community on decertification

Dear USA Badminton Members,

We want to take a moment to provide you with an important update regarding USA Badminton’s status as the National Governing Body (NGB) for badminton in the United States.

In October 2024, the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC) initiated proceedings to consider the decertification of USA Badminton as the recognized NGB (https://usabadminton.org/announcement-from-usa-badminton/). Since then, our staff, in collaboration with some members of our Board of Directors, has been working diligently to address and comply with all requirements and concerns raised by the USOPC.

Earlier today, a formal hearing was held as part of the decertification process. We deeply appreciate the opportunity to present our progress, demonstrate our commitment to governance excellence, and reaffirm our dedication to serving athletes, clubs, and the broader badminton community. We now await the outcome of that hearing, which we expect to be announced next week.

Throughout this process, USA Badminton has remained steadfast in its commitment to the development and promotion of badminton at all levels across the country. We are proud to maintain a strong and collaborative relationship with our international federation, the Badminton World Federation (BWF), and continue to uphold our role in representing the United States on the global stage.

We thank you—our athletes, coaches, officials, clubs, members and supporters—for your unwavering commitment to the sport and to USA Badminton. Your support reinforces our resolve to move forward with integrity and purpose.

We will provide further updates as soon as they are available.

Sincerely,

USA Badminton
