Got in a reel of mizuno 68S.
Strung at 27 x 29lbs, 10% pre stretch, +2 on knots.
String plays exactly like it says on the tin. It’s stiff. Fresh off the turntable, it feels dull and boardlike. Not very pingy at all. Shuttle drops dead on it. Hard stringbed. Bg80 sounds a little more pingy freshly strung.
On court, after a few swings to get used to the thicker string, as I’m a 0.65mm type of guy, it certainly plays very stiff and requires a bit more effort for drives imho…. But give it power and it comes alive. It gives more when you out in more. It makes all the right satisfying sounds when pushed hard.
Its different enough from bg80 to be its own thing. I can definitely see this being good for heavy hitters and smashing.
I personally could not push this string to where it needs to be to shine. So will instead wait for player feedback and adoption rate to decide if it’s a keeper.
It certainly seems to be a valid alternative to bg80, bg80 power. It’s to be decided if it’s better. Hopefully it addresses bg80s poor tolerance to mishits.
It’s harder to play with compared to exbolt 68, which is not a hard feeling/stiff string in the 0.68mm category. They are not comparable.
