Forth Worth, TX – USA Badminton has chosen Fort Worth to host the 2024 Yonex US Open at the Fort Worth Convention Center, June 25-30, 2024. The event is expected to bring more than 300 domestic and international athletes, with an estimated 2,040 room nights and a combined $1.2 million in economic impact.

“We’re excited to bring the sport of badminton to the Fort Worth community,” said Jim Estes, USA Badminton Interim CEO. “Spectators attending the Yonex U.S. Open will get a sneak peek to the upcoming Paris Olympics. Team USA athletes and other top international stars competing for Olympic glory this summer will be showcasing their amazing talents right here in Fort Worth.”

The 2024 Yonex US Open is part of the Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Tour. This is the first time for Fort Worth to host USA Badminton or the BWF.

“It’s an honor to welcome USA Badminton to Fort Worth for the first time ever,” said Jason Sands, executive director of the Fort Worth Sports Commission. “We are looking forward to having their athletes and fans experience all our city has to offer.”

Securing this tournament is part of the Fort Worth Sports Commission’s strategic plan to position Fort Worth as a world-class sports destination by investing in events and relationships at the Olympic level.

“Our goal has been to build strong reputations among the Olympic governing bodies,” said Sands. “We want them to think of Fort Worth as a place to host regional, national, and international championship events. The sports commission and our community partners have worked hard to pave a trail for these organizations and their athletes in their quest for the gold.”

USA Badminton joins the long list of national governing bodies that have held or will hold national championship level events in the city within an 18-month period. Other championship events include: USA Wrestling, USA Track and Field, USA Fencing, USA Karate, USA Gymnastics, USA Taekwondo, USA Table Tennis, and USA Weightlifting. The combined impact of these events equates to 50,000 estimated room nights and $31.7M in direct economic impact.
