Doubles victory at Estonia International

Ethan Van Leeuwen and Abbygael Harris stormed to mixed doubles victory at the Estonian International without dropping a single game.
Their golden success opened a brilliant finals day for Badminton England, with Yue Chern Chua and Koon Fung Kelvin Ho also clinching victory in the men’s doubles.
Van Leeuwen and Harris breezed past their competition in two games from beginning to end in Tallinn, with a 21-9 21-16 victory over Ukraine’s Viacheslav Yakovlev and Polina Tkach in their opening round.
Their closest match came in the quarter-finals when the English duo were pushed all the way by Miha Ivancic and Petra Polanc of Slovenia, ulimately overcoming the pair 21-17 21-19.
They wrapped up gold with a commanding 21-11 21-14 win over France’s Gregoire Deschamp and Margot Lambert in the final.
Chua and Ho started equally strongly in Tallinn, brushing aside host nation duo Matis Kaart and Mikk Ounmaa in two games before a tough round of 16 battle saw them overcome Sweden’s Jesper Borgstedt and Max Svensson 21-14 17-21 22-20.
The English pair cruised into the final four with a dominant quarter-final performance and produced a strong third game to beat Filip Karlborg and Milo Molin of Sweden 21-19 19-21 21-14 and cement their place in the final.
Chua and Ho defeated opponents Bhargav Ram Arigela and Viswa Tej Gobburu of India to clinch men’s doubles victory.
Robin Harper and Harry Wakefield were also in action in the men’s doubles but lost out on progressing from the round of 32 after a 21-13 14-21 21-19 loss to France’s Natan Begga and Baptiste Labarthe.
