Badminton England shortlisted for two prestigious awards
Badminton England are very proud to be shortlisted for two prestigious accolades at this year’s Sports Business Awards.
Next week’s awards ceremony, to be held at Old Billingsgate on Friday 29th November, will see Badminton England in the running for ‘Best Sports Governing Body of the Year’ as well as a ‘Sports Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Award’.
As part of our ten-year strategy, we committed to an objective to develop badminton as the most inclusive and accessible sport in England by putting inclusion at the heart of its decision making, connecting everyone to and within the sport, providing welcoming, safe, inclusive and enjoyable environments and giving everyone access. Badminton England believe that a more diverse and inclusive game supports the growth and success of English badminton in all aspects of the game.
And from a broader aspect, one of our key objectives as a governing body is to get everyone to pick up a racket and hit a shuttle, regardless of their gender, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, background, or circumstances – be proud to be part of a thriving community and develop a lifelong passion for our sport. We are delighted to nominated for two awards at next Friday’s event.
Launched in 2017, the Sports Business Awards celebrate the very best in the sports business and the gala event attracts more than 500 attendees to the ceremony each year.
The judging panel is made up of Chief Executives of Sports Governing Bodies – all individuals whose knowledge, expertise and experience gives them special insight into the challenges and demands of sports business success. Badminton England’s Sue Storey has the honour of being a member of the panel this year.
The awards are designed to celebrate the vital influence of business within sport, recognising the organisations, teams and individuals who excel in their roles.
We are nominated alongside the likes of British Cycling, England Golf and World Netball in the running for the Best Sports Governing Body of the Year gong, while our commitment to making badminton a sport for everyone and our work to make the sport inclusive and accessible to all will be assessed alongside submissions from Swim England and the EFL amongst others.
Good luck to all who are nominated at the Sports Business Awards 2024!
