Colorado Springs – John Ruger has been appointed Interim CEO of USA Badminton (USAB). Ruger has replaced Jim Estes, who resigned from USAB to pursue other interests.
Ruger is an experienced sports administrator whose background includes serving as a senior executive for USA Volleyball, as an athlete ombudsman for the US Olympic Committee (USOC, now USOPC), and as national team coach for USA Biathlon. Ruger has also served as a member of the USOC (now USOPC) Board of Directors, as chair of the USOC (now USOPC) Athletes’ Advisory Council, and most recently, Ruger served as chair of the USAB Ethics Committee. Ruger is an Olympian as well as a national team athlete who competed on three world championship biathlon teams.
