So. The puller is super quiet and strong, chain driven. Looks like new in a 2017 model.
The potentiometer is suspect, hopefully just adjust it, it might be pulling slightly over.
The tensioner button has a super satisfying clunk, but it’s not nearly as convenient as the padel action on the wise.
The keypad is awesome. Or was. The zero is unresponsive, but I do really appreciate keying in a tension rather than up, up, up, up, up, up, up, etc on the keys when doing a 28lb after say 22lb. The ‘cross’ function is cool too.. love that. I reckon I probably need a ful replacement keypad.
It’s extremely portable for its size. 6 bolts and it’s flat packed for a car boot. 5 minutes to set it back up.
The turntable and clamps are so smooth it’s like ice. When I unclamp the string, the lean of my house sends the clamps to the end. Buttery smooth! The clamps are easily adjustable. Fuly analogue rather than graduated clicks. I prefer this.
The bases are very adjustable and solid. A lot of the machine is case iron i think. They are very satisfying to use and also adjustable. One bolt has seized so I’ve ruined it and will need a spare when I get it out.
The side supports are terrible! They’ve got some weird PTFE rods or something. It feels like wax and has disintegrated. Also it only touches one side of the frame and pushes it into the tower base. If that makes sense. Really realy hampers working space. And not adjustable much. 3 fixed settings and if you cover a shared hole then unlucky. I’ve actually removed them and retrofitted the towers from the tyger profile, including chucked side supports. They need about 1/6 of the effort to open, fuly adjustable, more solid. Just everything is better about them.
I’m almost at the point where I could viably use this machine as is, once the keypad and potentiometer are good. But I’ve a new toy arriving soon I hope. Averaging maybe 8 rackets a week and no plans to slow down so I’ve gone for a fairly big, but not crazy Wilson baiardo lite.
