Badminton England can proudly announce that English mixed doubles pair Nathan Robertson and Gail Emms will be back together for one weekend only when they will play host to some of our lucky YONEX All England Open guests.
In 2025, the prestigious YONEX All England Championships is back in Birmingham, returning to the Utilita Arena in mid-March. And what better way to supplement all the action from finals weekend than to enjoy the climax to our Super 1000 extravaganza alongside two iconic names in the history of the sport in this country.
Together, Nathan and Gail were a badminton force to be reckoned with from the very start…Robertson initially paired with Emms to win bronze in the World Junior Championships in Kuala Lumpur at the age of just 17!
Gold in the 2004 European Championships was followed by an inspiring journey to the Olympic gold medal match in Athens that same year. The World Championship title was theirs following victory in Madrid two years later and they added Commonwealth gold to their medal haul when they beat New Zealand mixed pair Daniel Shirley and Sara Petersen in Melbourne.
Sandwiched in between was a notable triumph at the famous YONEX All England Open Badminton Championships; Emms and Robertson defeated Thomas Laybourn and Kamilla Rytter Juhl of Denmark to lift the prestigious All England silverware in Birmingham exactly 20 years ago this year.
Nathan now coaches the up and coming English stars of today and tomorrow and was the courtside coaching support to Ben, Sean and Kirsty in Paris this summer, while Gail has since been awarded an MBE for her services to the sport. In March, they are back together to celebrate all things All England!
