Christo Popov

Born in 2002, Christo Popov is one of the biggest promising players at the French, European and world scale. Last week, he became the youngest ever French champion, aged 17. Here’s a recap of what he has achieved so far.

2014 : U13 French champion (+ 2 titles in boys’ doubles and mixed doubles)

: U13 French champion (+ 1 title in mixed doubles)

2016 : U15 French champion (+ 2 titles in boys’ doubles and mixed doubles)

2017 : First participation at the Nationals, aged 14 (defeated in last 16)
First title on the Junior International Series circuit at the Yonex Italian Junior
U15 French champion (+ 1 title in boys’s doubles)
First participation at the World Junior Championships, aged 15 (defeated in last 8)
Winner of the Danish Junior Cup, second title on the Junior circuit

2018 : 2nd participation at the Nationals (defeated in last 16)
3rd Junior title at the Hungarian Junior International
U17 French champion (+ 2 titles in boys’ doubles and mixed doubles)
First men’s doubles senior title with his brother Toma Jr Popov at the Bulgarian Open Championship (Int’l Series)
Finalist of the European Junior Championships (defeated by Arnaud Merkle)

2019 :
3rd participation at the Nationals (defeated in last 8)
4th Junior title at the Hungarian International Junior Championships
U19 French champion (+ 2 titles in boys’ doubles and mixed doubles)
Silver medalist of the World Junior Championship (first ever medal for France)
First international title on the senior circuit at the Italian International (Int’l Challenge), from qualifications
