Carolina Marin (ESP) v P.V. Sindhu (IND)- Women’s Badminton Final Rio 2016 | Throwback Thursday — 73 Comments

  1. Sindhu is a wonderful player and a very nice person, her behaviour during and at the end of the match was very nice, this is a true sportsmanship. You lost the match but you won the hearts Sindhu, you are the pride of India.

  2. Shindu is very aggressive in important championship. But, she always gets silver medal at the Olimpic, silver medal Asian Games, Twice the silver world championship, and silver at BWF world tour final (1 gold 2018)
I hope Shindu wins gold in Tokyo Olimpic 2020.
    Come on Shindu

  3. From now on, i’m gonna change this to: Olympic 2021 gonna be amazing game again for badminton 🤩

  4. Even loosing against Marin, Sindhu’s behaviour towards her OMG so lovely. Good sportsmanship. Sindhu carried racquet of Marin out of the court. What a lovely moment.

  5. A couple of years ago, nobody would have thought that a spanish women’s singles player would become 2x world champion & olympic champion. Fernando Rivas really did an amazing job discovering Carolina and developing her into a top player.

  6. Amazing thing is that……No Chinese athlete on podium😂…this indicates that these three women fought hard to overcome mighty Chinese …..Very proud of these three ladies ….

  7. Carolina won because she was enjoying the game the moment.
Where Sindhu was tense with lots of countrymen’s pressure

  8. The day when sindhu made millions to watch badminton and made 1.3 billion people proud
And the beginning of end of Chinese domination in women’s singles

  9. Yes thats her game plan like shouting in between rallies. Bt when that went fail she behaves very badly. Bt she is lovely.😍

  10. @Eli Nathan not all we are talking about all match of the badminton from olympics not just a final

  11. @Sidhartha Patra Yes I have seen many interviews they mentioned name of each other. Nice na

  12. @Sukanya 99 yeah they have uploded it couple of days before..have watched it already..thnx

  13. @tan zhe heng when it comes to world stage Sindhu is too good for most players. Her only rival in olympics, world championships are Caroline Marin, Yamaguchi and Okuhara. Do not go by her performance in super series. She has shown it many times that in bigger events she somehow always reaches the final

  14. bikash das all these Indians above….. It was a closed match anyhow during quarter final with tai. Only bash me when after something happen. My opinion doesn’t change, sindhu is not as good as Tai. Still to me her weakness is her footstep. I admit the fact she improved a lot this year, but if Marin and tai played at their top form, she stand 0 chance in Olympic

  15. @tan zhe heng all players plays at their top form, its an excuse when u use words like “if”..Sindhu had betaen Tai everytime in world event, be it in olympics or in world championships. So what i wrote is based on what actually happened and not based on “if”..”If” Sindhu plays in her top form then she can defeat all players in the world. Its not like Tai beats Sindhu everytime, and with Marin the head to head record is still even. So “if” she is not as good as Marin or Tai she “would” have lost all matches against them. But overall record says something else. No matter how much you want to put down SIndhu, but here is the fact, Sundhu has more medal in world events,Tai has NONE. Also, ZERO chance in Olympics does not fetch you a silver medal.

  16. @tan zhe heng you are saying that you are so arrogant that you won’t take Sindhu as Tokyo 2020 gold medal contender. Okay fine think what you want to think. Coz in my opinion you don’t have any knowledge about badminton. You just know few names and you are taking them only.

  17. Sindhu 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
    Carolina Marin 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍

  18. sir rosecn She didn’t just have a hole country, but also a whole continent, and maybe everyone who isn’t Asian as well.

  19. I hope he didn’t teach marin that rude obnoxious scream she does to intimidate her opponent!

  20. @Arpit Pradhan can we say that Sindhu is still on the line for gold medal contender?? Sindhu is still my favorite, but she is not too dominant. Even, Tai Tzu the most women player who hold the most title recently is not dominant too.. I think Tai Tzu, Sindhu, Marin, Akane, Nozomi, Ratchanok, Yufei have similar change to reach any olympic medal..
And nobody knows that probably WS in 2nd layer such as Michelle Li, Beiwen, Mia Blichfeldt, Se Young can become the dark horse and take the bronze??
This WS us quite different when LinDan and LCW era, where just both of them finished in most of final of the tournmnt..

  21. Yes indeed, bcs at that time she carry the burden bringing home gold to India. Sadly, she lost it and India didnt bring home even a single gold medal that year in Rio Olympics

  22. Sadly Tokyo 2020 got postponed to 2021. I was so excited to watch the Olympics this year. Hoping for at least 10 medals from India.

  23. @Kunal Nagarkoti you seem a big hater of sindhu, being india you’re unhappy with her success shame on you

  24. Indian didn’t respect people as always , sindhu can’t won gold because she didn’t show respect to her ex korean coach

  25. @Muhamad Taufik Hidayat lol. Pretty sure you failed to proofread your comments.
You compared two players from different era, and in different badminton disciplines. Park Joo Bong was a men’s doubles player whereas Lin Dan is a men’s singles player.
Yet now you’re telling people not to compare the players in the different era. You just contradicted yourself.
    You’re funny!

  26. This match was very special for me and also kind of intimidating because theese are the countries which I belong from literally (I am half indian and spanish) I did not choose sides they both perfomed amazingly !
So proud to say that my countries participated in the Olympics and my half spanish side won !!! Vamos Carolina!!! 🥳🥳🥳🥳👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

  27. keep telling the same line for the rest of your life loser…….”nice behaviour, lost match won hearts”!!….😂

  28. @JIT T
Taufik’s point was simple. It was harder winning the world championships during Park joo bong’s era. Then it was played 3 years once. Regardless singles or doubles, the point was the frequency of the world championship being held. Lin Dan is arguably the greatest player of ‘his’ era.

  29. @Jackson Meetei I meant specifically in ws
And since Olympics no major gold was won by Chinese in ws
And their dominance is reduced in other categories as well
    Ms MD WD

  30. To be honest Marin plays constantly with asian girls, in their leagues, so she is almost asian.
