A special edition of the BWF Para badminton Tehcnical Workshop is taking place in Acapulco, Mexico, with the participation of paraathletes, coaches, classifiers, and representatives of National Paralympic Committees from 18 countries of our region.

Around 80 participants are gathered in Mexico to enjoy this activity that seeks to encourage the development of Para badminton throughout the region and offers the necessary resources through the following courses: Players training camp, Administration Workshop, Classifiers Workshop and Para badminton Coaches Workshop.

Argentina, Aruba, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El
Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Puerto Rico, Trinidad & Tobago, and United States of America are the participating countries.

This event is led by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) and has the support of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), Americas Paralympic Committee (APC), Badminton Pan Am Confederation (BPAC), Mexico Paralympic Committee (COPAME) and, Mexico Badminton Federation (FEMEBA).

John Shearer, BWF Head of Continental Development and Fern Gilders, BWF Head of Tournament Development, are leading the Administration Workshop; Kaity Hall, Dina Abouzeid, Guillaume Gailly and Letisson Samarone, experienced Para badminton coaches lead the Players Camp and the Coach Education Course, while Vivian Salazar, BWF Classifier, lead the Para badminton Classifiers Workshop.

This event began with an opening ceremony attended by Pilar Carrillo, BWF Council Member, John Shearer and Fern Gilders from BWF, Adriana Rincon, APC Projects Manager, Liliana Suarez, president of COPAME, Javier Orozco, Vice president of Badminton Pan Am and president of FEMEBA, German Valdez, BPAC COO, Pilar Jauregui, Para badminton World Champion and, Covadonga Gomez, representative of the Secretary of Tourism of the State of Guerrero

The BWF Para badminton Tehcnical Workshop will run until November 17 and will encourage development projects in each of the participating countries for the benefit of our sport.
