Badminton made its debut as a presentation sport at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich. It was not until the 1992 Games in Barcelona that it was officially consisted of on the Olympic program, with males's and women's songs and doubles occasions. The blended doubles occasion made its launching in 1996 at the Atlanta Olympic Games. Ever since, the number of events has remained unchanged.
