The semi-finals of the All Africa Mixed Team Championships have concluded, and the stage is now set for an exciting final between Algeria and Mauritius. The winner will earn the honor of representing Africa at the TotalEnergies BWF Sudirman Cup Finals 2025 in China this April.

On Court 1, Algeria faced a tough challenge from Egypt in a closely contested match that ended 3-2 in favor of the Algerians. The first match of the day was the mixed doubles, where Koceila Mammeri and Linda Mazri took control from the start against Mahmoud Montaser and Hadia Elgendy. The Algerian duo dominated the game, showing strong coordination and quick reflexes to secure a convincing 21-8, 21-14 victory.

Egypt quickly responded in the men’s singles, with Adham Hatem Elgamal delivering a strong performance against Mohamed Abderrahime Belarbi. Elgamal played with confidence, using sharp smashes and well-placed shots to win 21-10, 21-14, leveling the tie at 1-1.

In the women’s singles, Egypt gained the upper hand as Nour Ahmed Youssri proved too strong for Malak Ouchefoun. Youssri dictated the pace of the game, making smart shot selections and controlling the rallies to win 21-9, 21-14. This gave Egypt a 2-1 advantage, putting them one win away from the final.

With the pressure on, Algeria needed a response, and they found it in the men’s doubles. Koceila Mammeri and Youcef Sabri Medel stepped up and delivered a crucial victory against Abdelrahman Abdelsattar and Seif Omar. The Algerian pair played with precision, keeping their opponents on the defensive and securing a 21-13, 21-12 win to bring the match to 2-2.

The decider came down to the women’s doubles, where Yasmina Chibah and Linda Mazri faced Nour Ahmed Youssri and Doha Hany. With a place in the final on the line, the Algerian pair remained composed and played with consistency. Their aggressive net play and solid defense helped them claim a 21-14, 21-14 victory, sealing Algeria’s place in the final with a 3-2 win.

After the match, Linda Mazri spoke to BCA TV, expressing her excitement:
“We are really happy to reach the final. Playing against Egypt is never easy, especially since they have won this event twice in a row. But this time, we prepared well, and our teamwork made the difference. Now, we focus on the final against Mauritius. We know it won’t be easy, but we believe in ourselves.”

On Court 2, Mauritius took on South Africa, winning 3-1 to book their place in the final. The mixed doubles match was a close contest, with Elsa How Hong and Georges Julien Paul facing off against Amy Ackerman and Robert Summers. The Mauritian pair won the first game 21-13, but South Africa fought back to take the second game 21-13. In the decider, Elsa and Julien held their nerve, securing a 21-18 win to give Mauritius a 1-0 lead.

The men’s singles saw Jean Bernard Bongout taking on Caden Kakora. Bongout played with confidence, keeping control of the rallies and forcing errors from his opponent. He won the match 21-18, 21-13, extending Mauritius’ lead to 2-0.

South Africa responded in the women’s singles, where Johanita Scholtz dominated Chiara How Hong. Scholtz played an attacking game, using her power to dictate the pace and secure a 21-11, 21-6 win, keeping South Africa’s hopes alive at 2-1.

The decisive moment came in the men’s doubles, with Jean Bernard Bongout and Georges Julien Paul up against Caden Kakora and Robert Summers. The South African pair started strong, taking the first game 21-9, but Mauritius fought back with a determined performance in the second game, winning 21-17. In the third game, both teams pushed hard, but Bongout and Paul held on to take the final game 21-18, sealing Mauritius’ place in the final with a 3-1 victory.

After the match, Julien Paul shared his thoughts with BCA TV:
“We are really satisfied with our performance, especially because this is a young team, and they still have everything in front of them. We did not expect to reach the final, but here we are. Now, we have to recover well and prepare for our match against Algeria. We know it’s going to be a tough challenge, but we will give everything we have.”

With the semi-finals completed, all attention now shifts to the final on Thursday, February 13th, at Japoma Gymnasium. The match will be broadcast live on BCA TV’s YouTube channel and Facebook page. Fans can also stay updated by joining the BCA WhatsApp channel for daily updates.
