U19 Mixed Team Championship 800

31 July 2024

Badminton England have confirmed the squad that has been selected to compete in the upcoming 2024 World Junior Mixed Team Championships.

Taking place between September 30 and October 13 in China, England will return to the Championships looking to go even better than their respectable 14th-place finish from last year.

England have named three boys and three girls in their squad as well as three non-travelling reserves.

Lucy Brierley is the only player to already have experience at the U19 Worlds under her belt.

She made a strong debut at the tournament last year, winning 21-7 21-8 against Latvia in the mixed doubles alongside Oliver Butler.

Lila Dundas and U17 English National Champion Rajvi Parab join Brierley to form England’s female trifecta in China, with Dundas and Parab making their first appearance on the World Junior Mixed Team Championship stage.

Parab is following her older sister Tashvi’s footsteps, who competed in two editions of the Championships.

On the boys’ side, Benjamin Horseman and Jia Bin Lee will also make their Worlds debut in China, with the duo having impressed as a doubles pairing at the YONEX Dutch Junior International earlier this year.

Jason Ou is the sixth member making up the confirmed squad, who will be looking to build on an encouraging display at the FZ Forza Bulgarian Junior Open Championship 2024.

Dillon Chong, Matilda Franklin and Yashica Racharia have been named as non-travelling reserves.

Confirmed Squad: Benjamin Horseman (BD/XD), Jia Bin Lee (BD), Jason Ou (BS), Lucy Brierley (XD/GD), Lila Dundas (GD), Rajvi Parab (GS)

Reserves: Dillon Chong, Matilda Franklin, Yashica Racharia
